Introducing our very first color collection for Fall 2024! Beverly has made three complementary yarns in a fall colorway. Using orange as the starting point, she then created two yarns using the same tones in different intensities which resulted in a browny orange and then a purple. While the orange is rich with saturated colour, the two other yarns have a dimensional component with subtle hits of pink and green. As always, the sheep wool is from breeds we raise on our farm (Polypay sheep and Lincoln Longwool sheep); the alpaca is from Beverly’s previous farm. Haven't heard of this sheep breeds before? Learn more about the characteristics of these fibres here.
Source: All wool is from our current farm with the exception of the Alpaca which comes from Beverly's supply. She used to have a herd of Alpaca when farming in Southern Ontario, and still has some fibre in storage.
Processing: All of our yarn begins as raw fleece, which is washed, carded, and spun by us right here in Thunder Bay in our on-site wool mill. In addition to raising the sheep ourselves, we are creating each skein from start to finish out of our own fibre. We are a woolen mill, which means our fibres are carded into random arrangement (as opposed to combined into alignment). The resulting yarn has a loftier feel as a result. We do not use chemical scouring and therefore do not create a "superwash" product. Our fibres are not bleached and we only use natural soaps.

DISCLAIMER
We do our best to represent colours accurately, however not all screens are calibrated the same and colour may appear differently in person.
Small scale on-farm processing like ours means that there will be a few joins/knots, a small amount of vegetable matter (hay or straw bits) and more noticeable variation in the yarn. While Procion dyes are colorfast, some dye colours have a rinse-off period. The weight of wool varies based on the humidity in the air, so all weights are approximations.
