Return to the traditional and try your hand at spinning your own yarn with hand tools. Both beginners and experienced spinners alike can use these larger top whorl drop spindles to spin a yarn that is then wound into a ball using the nostepinne. The accompany wool roving is both grown and made here in Thunder Bay on our farm and in our on-site Wool Mill.

Included: This kit combines two 2 oz. rovings with a nostepinne yarn winder and a top whorl drop spindle.

Dave Hainrich of North of 48 Custom Woodworking has created a limited series of beautiful one-of-a-kind hand tools for us. These are truly heirloom quality spindles and nostepinnes that are not only made locally but also feature local materials. Dave has prioritized using Ontario wood species as well as left over from other projects, when possible, which reduces wood waste.

  • DISCLAIMER

We do our best to represent colours accurately, however not all screens are calibrated the same and colour may appear differently in person.

Small scale on-farm processing like ours means that there will be a few joins/knots, a small amount of vegetable matter (hay or straw bits) and more noticeable variation in the yarn. While Procion dyes are colorfast, some dye colours have a rinse-off period. The weight of wool varies based on the humidity in the air, so all weights are approximations.
